It's Americana Month!

It’s Americana Month!

Americana is defined, broadly, as “things typical of America.”

Throughout July, I’ll be taking inspiration from things typically American, but rarely celebrated. This won’t be a rehash of 10th grade American History class. There will be no talk of founding fathers, or wars, or presidents. (There will be no talk of any dudes, at all.)

Instead, I’ll be celebrating the oft-unsung, but still glorious parts of the USA, from fantastic, rule-breaking women to American trends and counter cultures of the past and present.

Just like last month, there will be three posts a week.

On Sundays and Wednesdays, I’ll be conducting fashion experiments. Friday posts will be more supplemental. You can expect shopping guides, features on kickass women, and, on July 19th, we’ll have our first meeting of The Rule Breakers Book Club.

(Click here to read more about the book club. Our first book is Elizabeth Gilbert’s City of Girls!)

The party continues via email, too. Sign up for The Rule Breaker’s Review, the weekly Costume Parade newsletter. Every Monday morning, I’ll be sending additional Americana content plus that week’s blog posts.

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, and I’m celebrating all month long! I hope you’ll light up your sparklers and join me!

What bits of America fascinate or inspire you? Which American women influence your style?
